RST Tractech Evo 2 Jacket Overview
Part of RST’s Tractech Evo range of motorcycle clothing. The Evo 2 Leather Jacket delivers incredible performance and safety, at an affordable price. Pretty much sums up a lot of the RST range, but this one doesn’t disappoint.
The main things we tend to look for in a leather jacket include comfort, protection, quality, warmth/cooling and value. We think this jacket has hit the nail on the head in getting the right balance of all of the above. We’ll go into more detail on each of the points, but to sum up this jacket in one sentence. It delivers everything you want, fits well, feels great, looks great and all at a reasonable price.
Looking at the reviews this RST Tractech Evo 2 (or Evo II) jacket from RST get’s nothing but positive remarks when it comes to comfort. The outer leather is made from a premium grade cowhide. This of course is a very popular choice for bikers to ensure maximum levels of protection but also comfort. Running down the arms of the jacket you’ll find a stretchable material which RST call their “Contour 4 way stretch panels”. These panels are great for providing a comfortable fit and because of their ability to stretch, it helps to keep the sleeves of the jacket in position in the event of a crash. Helping to keep the protection where it’s needed most.
There’s a removable thermal liner with the Tractech Evo 2, great for the colder days, and it adds a layer of comfort too.
comfort text. Comfort is a hard one to judge as it’s so subjective, so here are a few customer comments to help you out.
✅David – July 2017 – ” Seems to be very well made and again it is very comfortable.”
✅Stuart – May 2017 – “Cracking jacket, very comfortable”
✅Nick – March 2017 – “The leathers are excellent, excellent quality, well made and very comfortable.”
✅Anonymous – December 2016 – “Perfect fit, and comfort!!! Its my first RST gear and I love it.”
So the main reason we buy a leather jacket, we want protection. Let’s see how the RST Tractech Evo 2 jacket fairs.
Firstly, it’s great to see that there are a number of added features designed specifically with protection in mind, although some are subtle they can really make a big difference if the worst should happen.
Premium Cowhide Leather
To start with the outer leather is a premium grade cowhide, which to be fair doesn’t tell us anything about how good it is. RST do however tell us that it’s a 1.1 to 1.3 mm thickness. (Varying depending on the area, thicker leather where it’s needed more). This is on par with the top spec leathers from Dainese using their D-Skin technology. They too are around 1.1-1.3mm thick. Although likely to have different treatments, materials and processes so that’s not us comparing levels of protection, purely thickness of leather.
Double and Triple stitching
The jacket features areas with double and triple stitching on the seams for enhanced levels of protection. This level of stitching ensures the joins on the jacket do not tear apart during a crash.
The jacket features a great level of protective armour. This icludes CE approved protection in the shoulders and elbows, as well as a CE level-1 approved back protector. The outside of the jacket also features TPU. A tough material used in a range of motorcycle clothing and boots. This TPU is on shoulder sliders for added protection should you slide onto your shoulders.
In terms of quality, the RST Tractech Evo 2 Leather Jacket seems to have it all. There’s plenty of protection where you need it. The features like the triple stitching and thick premium grade leather will ensure it’s durable for years to come. And RST are known to deliver great long lasting motorcycle clothing, so we really think we’re on to a winner with this jacket.
warmth and Cooling
This is where the RST Tractech Evo 2 Leather Jacket really does well with customer reviews. This is likely due to the added benefit of the removable liner, meaning you’ve got extra warmth and comfort during the winter. But can remove the lining for better airflow and comfort during the winter. Many customer reviews comment on the great level of airflow with this jacket, with comments saying how it’s easy to wear all day on or off the bike.
Currently available at £210 down from £300. The RST Tractech Evo 2 Leather Jacket features as a bestseller with SportsBikeShop. We think RST have got a great balance here with the levels of protection, the styling, the comfort and the price.
